Olathe United FC Stuns Real Overland Park with 5-0 Victory in Dominant Display

Saturday's a huge boost for Olathe United

Olathe United FC traveled to Real Overland Park on Saturday to take on a team currently higher than them in the Select League Table. Olathe United won in convincing fashion by a score of 5-0 in a game played at Blue Valley Southwest High School.

OUFC dominated the first half but only put one goal on the scoreboard. They scored when midfielder Jeremy Quintanilla put a hard shot on goal from the 18 but it was punched away by the Real OP goalkeeper. Striker Shadrach Jaeger jumped on the rebound and hit a hard shot past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net. Olathe United jumped on the home team approximately 4 minutes into the second half when center back Simon Esh headed home a corner kick delivery from Tim Dietz. Olathe United continued to dominate possession in the second half but was called offsides multiple times which ended several promising attacks. They finally broke through for their third goal when speedy midfielder Andrew Ward chipped a ball over Real OP's back line and striker Tim Dietz took a touch and then lofted it over the on-rushing goalie. The 4th goal was scored due to several passes from the back line to the midfield and then to striker Cesar Dias Dias who used his speed down the left-hand side to beat the defender and passed it across the goal mouth to onrushing fellow striker, Parker Hurla for the tap-in. For the final goal, Dias Dias was rewarded for his hard work when Max Leiker slotted a pass through the back line that Dias Dias finished 1 on 1 against the goalie. Real OP threatened near the end of the game with a great shot from their striker but OUFC's keeper, Julio Coronado made an outstanding save by diving to his right and pushing the ball over the crossbar.

After the game, we caught up with Head Coach, Todd Esh.

"This was a great win on a very hot and humid day against a team above us in the table. The boys had a great week of practice and are really starting to gel. It is nice to finally have most of our squad here now that college and club seasons are completed. Our final ball and our inability to stay on-sides hurt us in the first half but we cleaned that up in the second half quite well. We have a lot of speed on this team as well as some very good technical players. The offsides resulted from us holding onto the ball a tad too much or starting our runs a little too early. We will clean that up. We are still learning tendencies, but we are starting to really play well together. I thought the whole team played really well. Our back line was phenomenal as they had some real speed up top. Real OP is a very good team, and it was a team effort to get a clean sheet. Our goal coming into this game was a clean sheet and the boys delivered. I am excited to see this team continue to improve."

Olathe United's next game is Friday, June 14 at 6PM at Heritage Soccer Park, Field 3 against Leawood Forest.

Real Overland Park's next game is Friday, June 14 at 6PM at Franke Fields against Lee's Summit.
