Olathe United continued their winning ways with a 3-0 victory against Liberty FC on a warm evening in North Kansas City. The first half ended 0-0 with the majority of possession by Olathe while Liberty was content to defend and try to counter. Several good chances by Olathe went just wide and the Liberty goalkeeper made several timely saves as well.
The second half started like the first half with possession by Olathe and Liberty being diligent in their defensive shape. Olathe broke through in the 64th minute when winger, Dylan Traudt sent a corner kick to the back post that midfielder Reuben Kester headed in for the first goal. 6 minutes later, Traudt again was involved in the goal by collecting the ball at the top of the 18 on the left side, beating his man to the endline and chipping it back to midfielder Noah Conover who was about 15 yards from goal on the left hand side. Conover one-timed the ball with his left foot on an absolute rocket, catching the Liberty keeper by surprise. Olathe scored one more time with Traudt collecting his third assist of the game. Reuben Kester sent a long ball from the right side that Traudt skimmed with his head to an overlapping Andrew Porter. Porter collected the ball, took 2 touches and beat the goalie from the left side to give Olathe their final goal. It was a dominating performance from Olathe United.
After the game we caught up with Coach Todd Esh. "This was our best performance of the year, by far. We possessed the ball extremely well, our one touch passing was outstanding, our combination play was on point and our defense, when tested, did a great job. We were patient when we needed to be patient and we went quickly when we needed to go quickly. The things we worked hard on in practice were evident today. The exciting thing is that we still haven't reached our full potential. These boys played an outstanding game today and I couldn't be happier."
