Olathe United dominated in all aspects of the game versus Lenexa City as they won convincingly on Saturday night, 8-1. Olathe scored the first goal of the game in the 13th minute when Alex Kohl sent a nice cross into Max Leiker who calmly trapped it and fired it home for his first of four goals on the night. Lenexa City caught the OU defense ball watching after a fast throw-in 5 minutes later and rifled home a shot from the right side to tie it up, 1-1.
After that, it was all Olathe United. Olathe United went on a 4 goal binge in less than 20 minutes. Parker Hurla connected with Noah Conover in the 27th minute, Noah Conover connected with Max Leiker in the 28th minute, Jace St. Peter connected with Andrew Ward in the 38th minute and Andrew Ward connected with Simon Esh in the 45th minute.
The second half had a lot of possession for OU but no scoring until the 82nd minute when Easton Rice found Max Leiker who completed the shot from middle of the 18 to complete his hat trick. Noah Conover scored his second goal of the game when he collected the ball in his defensive half and dribbled through 4 players in the midfield, turned on the jets to get past Lenexa's high line and beat the goalie to make it 7-1. Leiker added his 4th goal in the 87th minute when his college teammate, Andrew Ward assisted him for the second time in the game to make it 8-1.
After the game, Coach Todd Esh had this to say, "Very nice win tonight. Winning is always important but I was more impressed with our spacing between our midfielders and our forward line. We are learning how to play together and that will help as we head into the summer. We have been solid defensively all season and now our offense is coming around. We also have a few more players joining us who return home for the summer."
Olathe United's next game is Saturday, May 10 at Maranatha Christian Academy at 7PM versus Southside.
